History of
Kingspan Group

Founded in the late 1960s, the Group has grown steadily to become a prominent brand within the construction industry.

Kingspan was founded in Kingscourt, Ireland. It began as a small engineering business, with its roots in the manufacture of steel framed buildings. The business started to broaden its scope in the 1970s, with a move into the small-scale manufacture of environmental products.

The company grew steadily in the 1980s with the establishment of sales and distribution outlets in Ireland and the UK, followed shortly afterwards by investment in a number of manufacturing facilities producing insulated panels and insulation products. It floated on the Irish Stock Exchange in 1989.

From the 1990s until today, Kingspan Group has grown with significant success and expansion in Europe, North America, Canada, Australasia and South East Asia.

In September 2012, the Group acquired Thyssen Krupp Construction Group in Europe (including the reputable brands Isocab, Hoesch and EMS), and Rigidal Industries LLC in the Middle East.

In the last two years, Kingspan has been focusing on integrating the new companies as well as consolidating further the position on the international markets, especially in Australia, New Zealand, GCC and most recently in Africa, with the recent opening of an office in Durban, South Africa.

In February 2014, Kingspan Insulated Panels Inc. completed the acquisition of Dri-Design, a US-based high-end architectural façades business. This latest acquisition aims at further expanding its range within the global façade market.
